A day in the life of award-winning Lee

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be a Customer Service Digital Officer at Checkatrade? We caught up with our award-winning Lee Kingsley after he received several nominations for one of our prestigious Outstanding Achievement Awards following April’s Company Briefing…

What role do you do at Checkatrade and how long have you worked with us?

I’m a Digital Media Officer and I am responsible for overseeing our social media engagement across our platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Trustpilot. I have been with the company now for 10 months.

What is your typical day-to-day?

A large part of my role is based on customer satisfaction and making sure we are as helpful online as we are on the phone when trades and homeowners call us with their enquires.

Working online you need to be a bit of a Jack of all trades as one minute you could be discussing memberships with a trade and next you could be telling homeowners about the process of leaving reviews. Then you could be discussing our TV adverts - so having a broad range of knowledge about how all the various departments work in Checkatrade is much needed as you never know what question might come at you next online.

What do you look forward to at work?

In my role I get to work amongst all the departments and speak with many members of the team and senior members depending on what has come in online, so my role has given me a great insight into how other parts of the company are run. There is never a dull moment in my day which is always filled with lots of things to do and learn.

What I also enjoy is I am given the freedom to try new ideas out to improve the service we provide. I’m given full support from my colleagues, and Line Manager I have currently implemented a new way to track all our Trustpilot reviews making sure we are using the feedback we received from homeowners and trades so we can use this information to continue to improve the service we provide.

Why would you recommend working at Checkatrade?

Checkatrade is a fantastic company to work for and although I'm not part of a large team due to my role being so unique, I do get made to feel part of the family by all the various departments I get to work with. Career development at Checkatrade is also fantastic and I never would have imagined after 10 months I would be working with members of our Leadership Team who all encourage you to ‘Think Big’ – one of our company values, and take action on it.

Tell us about winning an Outstanding Achievement Award…

Everyone at Checkatrade has the opportunity to be recognised and rewarded for the work that they do. Every few months we have a Company Briefing and along with key updates from across the business, our Leadership Team present people with awards for Outstanding Achievement. The award nominations are sent in by colleagues who would like to recognise hard work, and I was lucky enough to win one of these awards within my first year of working here. I am really proud to have won and it’s a great way to top off my first year at Checkatrade.

What three words best describe working for Checkatrade?

1.      Fun

2.      Appreciated

3.      Success

Congratulations again to Lee for winning his award and we wish you many more happy years to come at Checkatrade!
