Location: London with weekly visits to Portsmouth HQ

Operating within an Agile digital SME with a growth and business change agenda, this is an exciting opportunity to act as the catalyst for control and agility! 

As an Agile Portfolio Lead/ Agile Planning Lead  you will be responsible for leading the  Checkatrade change portfolio. Assuming a pragmatic, delivery focussed approach you will bring our change portfolio to life, whilst being the “glue” that sits across our operations, technology, consumer and trade teams. This role is all about being nimble; we’re not looking for someone to embed lots of process to our change, but instead to work closely with our product managers and project managers to understand risks, dependencies and contention points that require prioritisation.

Where do you fit in?

Reporting directly to our Strategy and Planning Director you will be leading the change portfolio delivery process ensuring it is responsive, commercially and customer focussed and applicable across all aspects of technology and business change. A highly collaborative and influential, you will be responsible for accelerating strategic delivery and ensuring that the change portfolio and roadmap is constantly reviewed, optimised, and aligned to business strategy. This includes driving value based portfolio prioritisation, using models such as RICE (or similar) as well as asking the difficult prioritisation and delivery questions and embracing a continuous improvement mindset.

Ultimately you will build a slick, low friction and effective end-to-end approach to portfolio management that:

  • Tracks delivery from insight through to established benefits delivery.
  • Drives data and value driven decision making.
  • Confronts ‘brutal facts’ and drives business critical decision making.
  • Joins the dots between dependencies and identifies and resolves the problems before they hit.
  • Drives communication of the strategic change roadmap and delivery across all levels of the organisation.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Expertise in strategic change delivery, agile portfolio management or consulting in a digitally focussed environment.
  •  Able to take a highly methodological approach to bring structure to ambiguity: bringing models from previous experiences (those with consultancy background would be well suited to this role)
  • Experience in influencing, presenting and challenging at executive level.
  • An ability to see from multiple perspectives; a distiller of simplicity from complexity with a recognition that there may often be more grey than black and white.
  • Broad problem-solving focussed skillset including analysis, technical and business change delivery and with a high aptitude for data driven decision making.
  • Flexibility to visit our Portsmouth office at least once a week following lockdown.
  • Experience in a digital marketplace platform and/ or SME would be highly beneficial.
