A fantastic inhouse legal opportunity has been created for a Legal Counsel to provide pragmatic, commercial legal advice to our senior leadership team. You will provide counsel on legal issues, limit risk exposure and act as an effective guardian of the organisation while also facilitating the development of business strategies.  

Where do you fit in?

As an experienced inhouse lawyer with considerable post qualified experience, you will act as a subject matter expert providing effective legal counsel on all aspects of Checkatrade’s activities. You will provide leadership across commercial contracts, affinity partner agreements and IT infrastructure. You will ensure relevant policies and procedures are in place and work cross functionally to ensure legal compliance while limiting the risk to the business. You will work effectively with external parties such as partners, outsourced providers and traders. You will be comfortable operating within a matrix reporting structure with a direct reporting line to Checkatrade. Wider Homeserve Group legal support will be available.

What do you need to succeed?

  • A qualified solicitor, holding a current practising certificate for England and Wales.
  • Experience within an Inhouse Legal Counsel capacity with a significant post qualified experience across commercial contracts (including incorporating SLAs), affinity partnerships and IT infrastructure  .
  • A true subject matter expert with a strategic yet pragmatic approach, first class negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to build relationships with ease.  
  • Sufficient understanding of data protection working collaboratively with data protection experts and other specialist teams as required.
