EDI and wellbeing

Belonging

We pride ourselves on fostering a culture of inclusivity and building a sense of belonging – so everyone who works here is supported to be at their best.

We’re proud to say that women make up 26% of our total tech workforce and 35% of our senior leadership team. We have an established “Women In Tech” network, who are supported to explore their tech careers and grow their influence and networks.

We’re for everyone and we build together for our customers.

Wellbeing

Your health and wellbeing is important and reflected in the types of benefits we offer. From an on-demand GP to healthcare cash plans, private medical insurance (for certain roles) and gym membership. We offer enhanced benefits for our people planning or starting a family, with our dedicated fertility and family planning partner, Apricity.

We have an Employee Assistance line, to help you manage your physical and mental health. We also have a dedicated, fully-trained team of Mental Health First Aiders to provide in-house support and guidance to our people.

Doing the Right Thing

Doing good things that achieve good outcomes for our people and the wider Checkatrade community is paramount. At Checkatrade, our CSR activity is focussed in three areas: charity, community and sustainability.

Charity and community

We encourage  people to donate their time and skills in their local communities, with each person at Checkatrade getting five days volunteering leave (in addition to their annual leave) to spend how they choose, supporting causes that are close to their hearts.

We also offer a payroll giving scheme as well as the chance to sign up to the Pennies From Heaven programme – a hassle-free way to round up your salary and donate the extra pennies to charity.

We are also honoured to be a corporate partner of Hampshire-based charity, Sophie’s Legacy, who were chosen by our colleagues as our charity of the year for 2024.

Most recently we’ve also partnered with Lighthouse Charity, an organisation dedicated to supporting the emotional, physical, and financial wellbeing of the construction community in the UK and Ireland.

Sustainability

We support the UK’s mission towards the decarbonisation of homes and households. We all need to do better and Checkatrade wants to help. We’re proud to have a number of initiatives which help our teams become greener, our consumers to retrofit their homes, and our industry to have more skilled trades working in to green jobs.

Some of the ways we help our teams to contribute to a greener world are: offices powered by renewable energy, Carbon Trust Pledge and eco-bottles to reduce single use plastic. For travel, whether you are about two wheels or four wheels, we’ve got you covered with a Cycle to Work Scheme and a subsidised Electric Vehicle scheme.
